Editorial Policy

Editorial Policy

Our editorial policy is based on these principals; independence, impartiality, fairness and patriotism. We have zero tolerance for the content aimed at disrespecting, undermine and malign the state institutions. We do not endorse or support any content that is aimed to malign and undermine the integrity of our armed forces. We encourage the fair comment and policy discussions without making military and judiciary controversial.

We believe in fair, independent, impartial and fact based reporting and analysis.  We respect the religious beliefs, thoughts, cultural values and social norms. We discourage any attempt to disrespect or provoke the religious and cultural sensitivities of people from different background.

We differentiate between news and views and facts and fictions. We do not present fictions as facts and views as news. It becomes even more important to verify the source of the news in the era of fake news.

The use of abusive and foul language is not allowed on this site.

Freedom of expression and media with responsibility

We believe in freedom of expression, speech and media guaranteed in 1973 constitution and UN charter. But we believe to exercise our freedoms and rights with responsibility.  We must therefore balance our presumption of freedom of expression with our responsibilities, for example to respect privacy, to be fair, to avoid unjustifiable offence and to provide appropriate protection for our audiences from harm. We respect the legal restrictions on our freedom of expression and media and work within legal framework of freedoms and rights.

Respect and integrity of state institutions

We strictly oppose and discourage any effort to undermine and scandalise the state institutions including armed forces and judiciary. Such material is against our policy and so prohibited to publish or shown on our site. We believe in exercising the constitutional guarantees and rights within the legal framework of the country. Fair comments can be made on the judgments of the judiciary and policy decisions of the other state institutions and government that directly or indirectly affect the lives of common citizens.

Respect for religious beliefs

We respect the religious beliefs of different people. We respects the fundamental human right to exercise freedom of thought, conscience and religion.  This includes an individual's freedom to worship, teach, practice and observe.

We condemned any blasphemous material and content in any form and strictly prohibit such content on our site. We understand that religious issues are very sensitive thus needs careful and cautious approach to deal with those issues.  We understand that religious beliefs are central to many people's lives and arouse strong views and emotions.  We aim to achieve this by ensuring our material and content is not used to denigrate the religious beliefs of others, while upholding the right to freedom of expression.

Impartiality

Impartiality is our core value and editorial principle.  We will apply due impartiality to all content, news reporting and analysis. We will not inclined to or promote a certain strand of thought while ignoring the others. We believe in diversity and plurality of political, philosophical and ideological thoughts and views.  We will be fair and open-minded when examining evidence and weighing material facts.

The Insight247 News is independent of outside interests and pressures. No commercial, personal, foreign and political pressure and influence could undermine that could undermine our editorial integrity and independence.  Our readers and audience should be confident that our decisions are not influenced by outside interests, political or commercial pressures, or any personal interests.

We seek to report stories of significance to our readers and audiences.  We will be rigorous in establishing the truth of the story and well informed when explaining it.  Our specialist expertise will bring authority and analysis to the complex world in which we live.  We will ask searching questions of those who hold public office and others who are accountable, and provide a comprehensive forum for public debate.

Fair reporting

Our content will be based on fairness, openness, honesty and straight dealing.  Contributors and audiences will be treated with respect.

Privacy

We will respect privacy and will not infringe it without good reason.  Private behaviour, information, correspondence and conversation will not be brought into the public domain unless there is a public interest that outweighs the expectation of privacy.

Political impartiality

We strongly believe in maintaining our impartiality and political independence while reporting on elections, political activities and thoughts. We cover politics, elections and leaders to provide the firsthand knowledge and views. In this regard, we provide coverage to all the main stream parties and political groups. We believe in healthy political discussions and debates. We give prominence to all the main strands of argument and to all the main parties.  Although the government of the day will often be the primary source of news, the voices and opinions of other parties must also be routinely aired and challenged.

Public opinion

Opinion polls, surveys, questionnaires, phone and online votes are useful and fruitful ways of listening to general public and our regular readers and audience.  However, when we report them, the general public must be able to trust that the research - and our reporting of it.  To avoid misleading the audience, we should be rigorous in using precise language and in our scrutiny of the methodology.
