Islamabad police registered a criminal case against PTI leader for threatening the ECP and their families
The
Islamabad police has arrested former federal minister and PTI leader Fawad
Chaudhry from his Lahore residence today morning. He has been arrested for
threatening the CEC and other ECP members and their families. He was arrested on the Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP)
complaint, after he condemned the government for hashing out what he called a
conspiracy with the electoral body to arrest PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
A case
against Chaudhary was registered last night at the Kohsar police station in
Islamabad on the complaint of Secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan
(ECP) Omer Hamid Khan. The first information report (FIR) was lodged against
him for using threatening language against the ECP and its members.
In his
speech outside Imran Khan's residence in Lahore, Fawad warned the Election
Commission, its members and their families, according to the FIR. The FIR
states that Chaudhary said that the status of the election commission was
reduced to that of a 'Munshi.'
Fawad Ch
said that those who become part of the caretaker government will be pursued
until they are punished. He had said that the people sitting in the government
would be pursued to their houses.
Earlier, a
local court in Lahore approved the transitory remand of Fawad after he was
presented before the court by Islamabad Police. Fawad was presented before the
court of judicial magistrate Rana Mudassir in Lahore’s Cantt.
