Waqar Mehdi of PPP elected senator unopposed from Sindh
Waqar Mehdi belongs to the old guard of the PPP in Karachi and hails from a humble background

Peoples Party (PPP) leader Waqar Mehdi has been elected unopposed a member of
the Senate in the by-election on a vacant seat of the upper house of parliament
from Sindh. The Election commission has issued the notification of his success.
This seat fall vacant after the resignation of PPP Senator Mustafa Nawaz
Khokhar. He resigned after developing differences with the party leadership.
Waqar Mehdi
belongs to old guard of the party in Karachi and stood firmly with the party in
all weathers. He is not an elitist politician.
He is an ideological worker of the party from a modest and humble family
background.
The
Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has withdrawn its candidate after the
negotiations with PPP leaders. The PPP
workers has congratulated Waqar Mehdi on being elected senator unopposed.
Waqar Mehdi
is the general-secretary of the Sindh chapter of the PPP and also a special
assistant to the chief minister on political affairs and the CM’s Inspection,
Enquiries, and Implementation Team. He had joined the party as young activists
since affiliated with the party for decades. He is one of the most senior
leaders of the party in Karachi.
