PPP wins two national assembly seats in by polls
PPP candidate Ali Musa Gillani wins NA-157 Multan with lead of 26,000 votes while Abdul Hakeem Baloch of PPP wins NA-237 Karachi with the margin of 12,000 votes
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has emerged as the real winner in the by polls held on Sunday, October 16. It is really a morale boosting victory for PPP. PPP has won two national assembly seats. Syed Ali Musa Gillani has won NA-157 Multan. He defeated Mehar Bano Qureshi of PTI with a big margin of nearly 26 ,000 votes. He bagged 1,7073 votes while Mehar Bano Qureshi of PTI got 81,284 votes. It is big setback for PTI. Mehar Bano Qureshi is the daughter of senior PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi and her brother Zain Qureshi won this seat in 2018 elections. Ali Musa Gillani lost the election in 2018 but manage to win this time.
In NA-237 Karachi, Abdul Hakeem Baloch of PPP defeated PTI chairman Imran Khan with a margin of more than 10,000 votes. He bagged 32, 349 votes while Imran Khan got 22,498 votes. Abdul Hakeem Baloch lost this seat with a narrow margin of just nearly 1,200 votes against Jamil Khan of PTI in 2018. This seat traditionally consider the stronghold of PPP.
NA-237 is the only seat that PTI chairman Imran Khan has lost in the by polls. Imran Khan contested 7 seats and he wins 6 seats.
