Senator Ishaq Dar takes oath as federal finance minister
PML-N led coalition government has high hopes that Ishaq Dar will be able to bring down the inflation and stablise the Rupee
Senior PML-N
leader Senator Ishaq Dar took oath as federal minister a day after swearing in
as senator. President Ari Alvi administered the oath to Ishaq Dar at a ceremony
held at the President House also attended by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif,
senior PML-N leaders and cabinet members.
This is the
third time that Ishaq Dar will lead the finance ministry. He also led the
commerce ministry in 1997-98. Dar has replaced Miftah Ismail who resigned as
finance minister yesterday after serving for nearly five months.
Ishaq Dar is
going to be a strong finance minister as he was in the past. He is one of the
most trusted aide of PML-N supreme leader and former PM Nawaz Sharif.
PML-N led
federal coalition government has pinned high hopes in Ishaq Dar to control the
rising inflation and to stablise the economy. The government is also hoping that Dar will be
able to bring down the dollar and to strengthen the Rupee. The dollar already
lost Rs 10 value in two days since the new finance minister returned from self
imposed exile.
