ECP announces by polls on one NA and three PA seats on October 09

 The by polls in nA-157 Multan, PP-139 Sheikhupura, PP-209 Khanewal and PP-241Bahawalnagar will be held on October 09

The election commission of Pakistan has announced today that the by-elections in one national and three provincial assembly constituencies would be held on October 9, 2022. The by polls would be held in NA-157 Multan, PP- 139 Sheikhupura, PP-209 Khanewal and  PP- 241 Bahawalnagar on October 09.

The by polls in these constituencies were earlier scheduled for September 11 but ECP postponed the by-elections just couple of days ago due to the floods and non-availability of security forces. The ECP already clarified that the process of elections would be followed according to the earlier schedule but only polling will hold on October 09.   

This decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Raja Sultan Sikandar. The ECP in its meeting also expressed hope that the services of law enforcement agencies including Police, Pakistan Army, Rangers, and FC would be available for smooth conduct of by elections.

A close contest is expected between PTI, PPP and PML-N candidates.
