ISPR declared reports of Taliban presence in Swat as 'grossly exaggerated and misleading'

Only small number of TTP militants present in mountains between Dir and Swat districts says ISPR

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement has rubbishes the reports of presence of Taliban fighters in big numbers in Swat district as being misleading and grossly exaggerated.  "During the past few days, a misperception about the alleged presence of large number of proscribed organisation TTP’s armed members in Swat Valley has been created on social media. After confirmation on the ground, the reports have been found as "grossly exaggerated and misleading” says an ISPR statement.

Small number of armed men on few mountain tops between Swat and Dir has been observed, located far away from population," the statement further said.

The ISPR said that small number of armed men on few mountain tops between Swat and Dir has been observed, located far away from population. Apparently, these individuals sneaked in from Afghanistan to resettle in their native areas. "A close watch is being maintained on their limited presence and movement in mountains."

The statement further said that required measures are in place by all law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) for the safety and security of people. Presence of militants anywhere will not be tolerated and they will be dealt with full use of force if required."

This statement of ISPR came after the reports emerged in the media that Taliban are present in some areas of Swat and Dir districts. The presence of TTP militants in the tourist hotspot raised fears among local businesses and people. The statement will help to clear the confusion and fears. The rumours and speculation regarding the return of Taliban in Swat and other areas of KP will end now.
