Government increased price of petrol by Rs6.72 per litre
The government has surprised everybody with jacking up of petrol price amid falling dollar and lower oil prices
The Government of Pakistan Monday announced to
increase the price of petrol by Rs6.72 per litre for the next 15 days. The government
has surprised everybody with this decision to increase the petrol price. The
people were expecting a cut in the petrol prices amid a fall in the price of
crude oil in international market. While the government raised the price of
petrol, it slashed the price of diesel by Rs0.51. Earlier the sources had said
the prices of local petroleum products were likely to decrease by up to Rs15
per litre, as crude oil prices have declined in the global market.
The Finance Ministry
statement released to the media says that “in the wake of fluctuations in
petroleum prices in the international market and exchange rate variations, the
government has decided to revise the existing prices or petroleum products to
pass on the impact to the consumers.”
In line with
the new changes, the price of petrol will be Rs233.91 per litre, diesel will be
Rs244.44 per litre, and kerosene oil will be sold for Rs199.40 per litre, and
the price of light diesel oil will be Rs191.75 per litre.
The new
prices will come into effect from August 16, 2022.
