ECP reserved the verdict in PTI's foreign funding case in June after concluding the hearing after 7 years
The Election
Commission of Pakistan (ECP) today said it will announce the verdict of PTI's
foreign funding case tomorrow, August 2. The ECP has issued the cause list for
tomorrow which includes PTI’s foreign funding case verdict.
The three member bench led by the Chief Election
Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja would declare the verdict of the case filed
by PTI’s founding member Akbar S Babar. It took ECP to more than 7 years to conclude
the case. The PTI used every tactic to delay the proceedings of the case and repeatedly seek stay orders from different courts. ECP formed a scrutiny committee to investigate the allegations of
foreign and prohibited funding. The scrutiny committee submitted its damning
report to ECP. After failing to get relief from courts, PTI launched massive propaganda campaign against Chief Election Commissioner Raja Sikandar Sultan to bring him under pressure. But he refused to bow down and decided to announce the verdict of PTI's foreign funding case.
