LHC rejected PML-Q appeals filed against the decision of the single bench
PML-Q challenged the single bench decision to restore the powers of deputy speaker Punjab Assembly to preside over the election of CM Punjab
The PML-Q and speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Pervaiz Ilahi suffered another blow from the Lahore High Court today as LHC rejected their appeals to suspend the order of the single bench. The PML-Q was not happy that LHC restored the powers of the deputy speaker and allow him to preside over the election of CM Punjab in which speaker Ch Pervaiz Ilahi is also a candidate.
The two member bench of LHC has rejected the appeals filed against the single bench of LHC. The PML-Q and speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Pervaiz Ilahi challenged the order of the single bench of LHC. The Chief Justice of LHC in its order directed the deputy speaker Punjab Assembly to chair the session of the assembly for the election of CM Punjab. The PML-Q and speaker Punjab Assembly filed the appeal against the single bench order.
The Divisional Bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) consisting of Justice Shujaat Ali Khan and Justice Jawad Hassan announced the decision reserved earlier today on the appeals filed by the PML-Q and speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Pervaiz Ilahi.
The LHC directed the Chief Secretary Punjab to cooperate with Assembly staff to hold the election tomorrow according to the law and rules. The LHC bench also ordered the deputy speaker to make arrangements for the coverage of the election by media, FAFEN and PILDAT as observers.
