PTI candidate and younger brother of federal minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Umer Amin Gandapur has been elected as mayor of Dera Ismael Khan after defeating PPP and JUI-F candidates. The elections were postponed due to the murder of ANP candidate during the first phase of KP local government elections.

A close contest was expected in between the three main candidates but pTI candidate won the election in a one sided contest. This result is a political set back for both the opposition candidates.
