PML-N won cantonment by elections in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Kamrah

PTI failed to won a single by poll in cantonment boards in Punjab including Lahore cantonment board


A candidate of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has secured victory in the election for ward-7 of the Walton Cantonment Board. According to unofficial results of 30 polling stations, PML-N’s Naeem Butt bagged 5,187 votes, followed by an independent candidate Arshad Ali, who secured 2,531 votes.

Meanwhile, Muhammad-ul-Hassan of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) took the third position with 2,501 votes. With the latest victory, PML-N has won all ten seats of the cantonment board.

PML-N also won the by-election of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RBC) in Ward No 2.  PMLN candidate Malik Tahir Ayub got 4,913 votes and defeated six others including PTI candidate, Zain-ul-Abidin who got 4,583 votes. 


The PMLN candidate Malik Tahir Ayub got 4,913 votes while PTI Zain ul Abidin Ijaz got 4,583 votes, Asghar Khan of Jamaat-e-Islami got 695 votes and Tehreek-e-Labeek Amir Rauf Advocate got 880 votes. Independent candidates Shaukat Ayub Jadoon got 569 votes and Rashid Mahmood got 121 votes.

The PMLN had won 7 out of 9 seats in the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board on September 12, while the independent candidates had won 2 seats. Out of total 61,124 voters including 27,466 female voters in the ward, 12,104 exercised their franchise thus the turnout was 20%.

In Kamrah cantonment by polls, PML-N won 4 out of 5 seats while JI won one seat. PTI failed to win a single seat. 

The by poll results show that PML-N is continue to dominate the electoral politics. The PTI has lost electoral support in Punjab in the last three years of its rule.
