Petrol prices breaks all the records to reach at historic high of Rs 159.86 per litre
Government dropped another petrol bomb on people already suffering due to high inflation in the country
The PTI government
has dropped another petrol bomb on the people with huge increase in the prices
of petrol, diesel and kerosene oil. The government has announced increasing the
prices of petroleum products. The petrol price has been increased by Rs12.3,
high-speed diesel Rs9.53 per litre, Kerosene at Rs 10.8 per litre.
The huge
increase in petrol prices will bring more misery and sufferings for working masses
already reeling under high inflation. The transport fares of both public and
goods transport will rise to make transportation of vegetables, fruits and
other goods more expensive.
The finance
division in the latest statement said the prices of petroleum products are
showing drastic increase in the international market and presently are at the
highest level since 2014.
Despite the
unabated increase since the beginning of the year, Prime Minister Imran Khan
deferred the last review of petroleum products' prices on January 31, 2022 and
advised against the summary of OGRA.
“In the fortnightly review of Petroleum
Products' prices, prime minister has considered the recommendation to increase
the prices of petroleum products in line with change in the international oil
prices. Despite increase in the prices of petroleum products, Petroleum levy
and sales tax have been kept to the minimum,” said the notification.
