India-Hindu Fascist groups openly called for genocide of Muslims
Hate speeches against Muslims were made in a three day gathering of far right Hindu groups in pilgrimage city of Haridwar
Extreme
right wing (Fascist) Hindu leaders gathered in pilgrimage city of Haridwar in
Uttarakhand state for three days from December 17 to 19. The three day event
was organised by hate monger and far right Hindutva leader Yati Narsinghanand.
He is known for his hate speeches against Muslims.
Leaders from
several far-right groups in India have issued calls for the ethnic cleansing of
its 200 million-strong Muslim population. They openly called for the genocide
of Muslim population in India. They also called the Hindu groups to arm themselves.
"Economic
boycott won't work. Hindu groups need to update themselves. Swords look good on
stage only. This battle will be won by those with better weapons," Indian
media report quoted Narsinghanand as saying.
According to
an October Report in The Print, Narsinghanand has been accused of
inciting communal tension against the Muslim community on several occasions.
"Like
Myanmar, our police, our politicians, our army and every Hindu must pick up
weapons and conduct a safayi abhiyan (clean-up). There is no other option
left," Swami Prabodhanand Giri, president of the Hindu Raksha Sena, was
quoted as saying by NDTV.
Sadhvi
Annapurna, the general secretary of the political party Hindu Mahasabha, also
gave a call to arms and incitement to genocide.
“Nothing is
possible without weapons. If you want to eliminate their population, then kill
them. Be ready to kill and be ready to go to jail. Even if 100 of us are ready
to kill 20 lakhs of them (Muslims), then we will be victorious, and go to jail," The
Wire quoted her as saying.
According to
the report, religious leader Swami Anand Swaroop gave an example of how Muslim
street vendors should be treated. “The street in which I live, every morning I
used to spot a mullah with a big beard and nowadays they keep a saffron beard.
This is Haridwar, Maharaj. There is no Muslim buyer here, so throw him out,” he
said.
The Wire reported that BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyay and BJP Mahila Morcha leader Udita Tyagi also attended the three-day summit "giving the event a level of political encouragement from the ruling party".
However,
speaking to the Indian Express Upadhyay said: "It was a three-day
event and I was there for one day, during which I was on the stage for around
30 minutes and talked about the Constitution. What others said before and after
me, I am not responsible for it."
Videos of
the event have been circulating on social media for the past several days,
prompting criticism from several quarters.
Saket
Gokhale, the national spokesperson for the All India Trinamool Congress, said
on Thursday that he had filed a complaint at a police station against the
event.
"Failure
to register an FIR against the organisers and speakers in 24 hours, a plaint
shall be made to the judicial magistrate," he said.
The All
India Professionals' Congress, a department of the Indian National Congress,
condemned "in the strongest possible terms the genocidal statements made
by Hindutva leaders in a three-day hate speech conclave organised in the holy
city of Haridwar".
"Will the Union of India and other institutions remain mute spectators?" it asked.
Indian
journalist Muhammad Zubair from Alt media has tweeted that “Almost 2 days after
the videos went viral, ANI which claims to be 'South Asia's leading multimedia
news agency' has finally tweeted after Police filed an FIR against Haridwar
Hate Assembly with carefully adding "allegedly".
An FIR has
been registered against Wasim Rizvi aka Jitendra Tyagi and others under Section
153A IPC in Haridwar for allegedly spreading hatred by giving provocative
speeches against a particular religion, tweets the state Police.
This is a
carefully crafted tweet. After 2 days of outrage, the police decided to file
FIR & name one person: Waseem Rizvi aka J N Tyagi. All the big fishes like
Narsinghanand, Prabodhanand, and Anand Swaroop have not been named here.
Muhammad
Zubair also shared videos of different far right Hindu leaders making hate
speeches and calling for the genocide of Muslims. The hard line Hindu extremist
groups have become emboldened since Modi led BJP government came into power in
2014 on Hindutva agenda.
Modi government
continues to patronise such leaders and groups. On the ugly provocative hate
speeches in Haridwar, one person needs to speak: Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
All the FIR’s etc, has no meaning. It is time PM Modi was questioned by one and
all: Does he endorse this? Opposition parties, civil society, mainstream media,
India.
PM Modi and Interior minister Amit Shah must give answer to this question that every paper, every channel, every citizen should ask relentlessly - why no action against these men and women who openly boast of organising armed terrorism to turn India into a Hindu supremacist nation.
Vitriolic hate speeches & brazen calls for Muslim genocide made at Haridwar & Delhi events. Why have these hate mongers not been arrested? Why no UAPA & sedition cases? It’s neither nationalism nor Hinduism. Just bigotry that’s hurting India.
