defeated South Africa in the first test match at Centurion by 113 runs to take
1-0 lead in the three test series. South Africa bowled out at 191 runs in the 2nd
innings chasing the target of 305 runs.
Muhammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets each in the second inning. Muhammad Shami took 8 wickets in the match. KL Rahul declared player of the match for his brilliant 123 in the first innings. His inning proved to be the real difference between the two teams.
Muhammad Shami took 5-44 in the first innings to restrict South Africa at 197. India scored 327 runs in the first innings and took crucial lead of 130 runs. KL Rahul scored 123 and Mayank Agarwal 60 runs. Lungi Ngidi of South Africa took 6 for 71 and Rabada 3 for 72.
India took South Africa's three remaining wickets shortly after lunch on the fifth day of the opening Test against South Africa. South Africa lost Quinton de Kock for 21 runs to Mohammed Siraj while Wiaan Mulder also departed soon after for one run off the bowling of Mohammed Shami to give India their sixth and seventh wicket respectively shortly before lunch to put India in control.
