Pakistan- Inflation rises to 11.10% in April
PTI government has failed to control the rising inflation

Bureau of Statics (PBS) said on Saturday that the country's annual consumer price
inflation (CPI) rised to 11.1% in April, up from 8.5% in the same month
last year. The CPI was recorded at 9.1% last month.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has made several changes to his economic team in the past last month, aiming to bring in policies to control inflation that has been on an upward trend. PM Imran Khan has changed his fourth finance minister in last 33 months.
PTI government has failed to bring down the inflation in the country. The poor people are facing hardships due to high inflation. Low incomes and high inflation is a deadly combination for poor population.But all the efforts have failed to control the inflation. The prices of basic commodities continues to rise despite the claims to bring down the inflation.
An increase
in prices of vegetables, fruits and meat caused the latest hike in inflation,
the statistics bureau said. The price rises have been hitting the country’s
poor, who are also struggling with the economic fallout from the pandemic.
The CPI
inflation Urban increased by 11.0% in April 2021 as compared to an increase of
8.7% in the previous month and 7.7% in April 2020, the PBS said.
CPI
inflation Rural increased by 11.3% in April 2021 as compared to an increase of
9.5% in the previous month and 9.8% in April 2020, it added.
