Firdous Ashiq Awan made come back as CM Punjab's special assistant on information
Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan has been removed as the information minister Punjab. Chohan will retain his charge of the colonies department, while Firdous Ashiq Awan will become Chief Minister Punjab's special assistant and is set to take charge of the information ministry, said a notification.
Firdous
Awan had previously served as prime minister's special assistant on
information. She has made her comeback after removal from her position as special assistant to PM on information. She was replaced by Lt general (R) Asim Saleem Bajwa. Now she will work with CM Punjab in the information ministry.
He had to resign as the information minister in March over his anti-Hindu remarks. He made his comeback after few months but once again removed from his position. He was used to make hard hitting statements against opposition leaders. No reason of his removal has been given so far. The PTI lawmaker had come under severe criticism after a video of him making the remarks had gone viral on social media.
Two other ministers — Punjab's minister for Cooperatives
Mehar Muhammad Aslam and provincial minister for prisons Zawar Hussain Warraich —
were also stripped of their portfolio. This is the second time that the
minister has been removed from his portfolio after the Punjab government
reappointed Chohan as the provincial information minister in 2019.
