Shahid Khaqan Abbasi of PML-N elected new prime minister of Pakistan after securing 221 votes from the National Assembly. PM Abbasi took oath at Presidency in the evening. The new PM decided not to move to the prime minister house and will continue to reside in his own house in Islamabad. PM Abbasi was part of previous cabinet under former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. He was heading the ministry of petroleum and natural resources.
